Stress & Recovery Coaching
Sometimes life can feel overwhelmingly chaotic. It’s common to experience situations that are beyond our control, and stress seems to find us regardless of our circumstances and sometimes it’s simply too much to deal with.

Are you feeling overwhelmed and stressed out? Do you struggle to cope with the demands of daily life? If…
-
you feel burned out or depressed
-
you are often irritable
-
you feel you are missing out on life
-
fall ill more than others
-
your work has started to suffer
-
you find it difficult to switch off and relax
These are warning signs that you need to listen to.
Maybe your asking yourself
How can I muster the energy, vitality, and focus needed to get out of bed and through the day?
Do we really have to sleep eight hours a night? How can a busy person find time for that?!
How can I excel in work, fully indulge in play, and reach my utmost potential, when I feel like this?
Each of the questions above revolve around the critical balance of stress and recovery. Failing to effectively manage stress and prioritise proper recovery may result in an overwhelming and detrimental impact to our health.
Many individuals mistakenly believe that good health, performance, wellbeing, and recovery are simply inherited traits. The reality: All of these are skills that can be acquired, honed, and enhanced through intentional effort.
Stress & recovery coaching focusses on the small, simple everyday actions with big effects we can take to help ourselves feel and function better.
We all experience stress
There’s no “objective” stress that affects everyone exactly the same way. And let me tell you, there’s no “one-size-fits-all” recovery plan, either! Each and every individual experiences stress uniquely. Stress & recovery coaching is tailored to your unique needs.
It’s tempting to think of stress as being negative something that we wish we didn’t have to deal with, but there’s both “good stress”, and “bad stress”.
When we adeptly tackle challenges, rebound, and adapt, stress becomes a catalyst for our growth. It fuels learning, progress, change, healing, and development.
In fact we need good stress as if we don’t have enough stress it can leave us feeling lethargic, bored, unfocussed, directionless and lacking purpose.
More often than not it’s the cumulative effect of various stressors in our life, be they physical, mental, emotional, social, or existential that lead to us feeling stressed.
Stress is cumulative. We often don’t notice “smaller things”, but they do add up. And, together they can shape our deep health, behaviors, and overall outlook on life.
You can take a brief online test, the Holmes-Raye “stress inventory”, used by psychologists to evaluate an individual’s level of stress. It will help you establish whether stress & recovery coaching is right for you.
We all have the capacity to recover from stress
You know the basic advice – sleep well, eat right, exercise, and stay positive. You may also have an app to help you focus your mind, or track your diet, or track your exercise.
But let’s not kid ourselves. It’s not about ticking off items on a checklist in isolation. We are complex biological systems, we all think and feel in our own unique way, and stress affects us all differently. Everything is intertwined, it’s time to stop separating these factors.
We adopt a biopscyhosocial approach to stress & recovery coaching. This makes room for the complexity, and has three foundational components:
-
a biological component (How does your body work); and
-
a psychological component (what’s your mindset); and
-
a social component (what’s around you)
Stress & recovery coaching
During a 60-minute introductory call with your dedicated stress management coach, we will explore your stressors, develop an understanding of the cumulative pressures in your life. And agree on the initial steps of your journey.
Over the duration of the programme, our time together will be devoted to helping you to recover and will leave you feeling, functioning, and performing better. The skills and habits you learn are sustainable, there to help you manage stress in the future.
Every fortnight we’ll meet for an hour to review your progress and agree the next steps you’re going to take as you follow a path that leads to a healthy balance and the skills to manage and recover from stress in the future.
The ultimate goal of stress management coaching is to truly empower individuals to develop healthier, more sustainable coping strategies for the long term.
If we recover well, we can thrive.

No, you don't need any special equipment to get started. You and your coach will create a plan that supports any equipment you currently have available.
Does the programme include meal plans?
The short answer is no, but let's explore why...
Meal plans are restrictive, explicit prescriptions; unfortunately, when we try to follow rigid prescriptions like this, lots can (and often does) go wrong:
- Meal plans are tough to follow, life gets in the way and you may find yourself rebelling against it; you feel deprived so you grab, a cake, chocolate bar, burger, etc; or you choose to ignore what the meal plan says and eat what everyone else round the table is having so you're not the odd one out or having to prepare multiple meals
- Most meal plans are meant to be temporary. Our bodies can usually adapt to a rigid way of eating for a short period of time. But if you’re too strict for too long, you could wind up with disordered eating habits and lasting health (mental, metabolic, hormonal, etc) consequences.
- Eventually, you get so turned off by the process that you regress or quit altogether.
- Who wants to stop eating the things they enjoy?!
- If you make it to the end of the prescribed period of the meal plan, what then? Likelihood is that you'll revert to previous habits and/or have a blow out to celebrate the end of the plan. It's no wonder most people put back on what they lost, with 40% adding back even more weight!
We focus on the behaviours associated with eating and your relationship with food. To look at what you're already eating and find ways you could make it a little bit better.
We don't moralise food, as many meal plans and diets do when they describe it as good or bad, clean or dirty. You'll learn about a spectrum of food quality and start to identify small changes and improvements you can make to go one step at a time. Those improvements add up and over time you also change your habits significantly reducing the risk of reverting at the end of our programme
How often will I be billed
We will charge you the initial plan amount at the start of the programme. Once your initial plan ends, you plan will renew at the same price for the time duration you signed up for. Your charges will go through automatically until you decide to cancel.
